Hendricks County, Indiana – June 1, 2022 – Duke Energy has selected multiple properties across Indiana for participation in its 2022 Site Readiness Program to enhance the readiness of the sites for business and industrial development. One of those sites is in Hendricks County.
The Duke Energy Site Readiness Program works with local economic development organizations. Together, they identify potential property for industrial development and redevelopment, assess strengths and weaknesses of the development, and recommend how to mitigate said weaknesses. In addition, they assist with marketing “build-ready” sites, and qualify, develop and sell properties to create jobs and economic opportunities in our service territory.
Over 327 Sites have been evaluated since 2005, spread out over all of the states that Duke Energy serves. Since the program’s introduction to Indiana, 38 properties have been evaluated. 82 large projects have been won on assessed sites through this program (Giti Tire, Enjoy Life Foods, Greenleaf Foods, etc.), resulting in approximately 17,000 jobs and $12.5B in capital investment (including projects announced but not yet started).
Through the program, Duke Energy identifies high-potential sites and partners with county officials and local economic development professionals to develop a strategy for getting the site fully ready to market for industrial projects. According to Haley Tomlinson, Sr. Economic Development Manager at Duke Energy, their goal for the program is to help the organizations involved further advance their site’s development and increase its marketability.
“Our team at Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership, in partnership with the Town of Avon, is thrilled to have been selected as a participant in Duke Energy’s Site Readiness Program. We see it being incredibly valuable to our organization,” said Brian Bilger, Executive Director at Hendricks County Economic Development Partnership. “This program allows us to have a third-party expert to look at our community, ensuring we are ready to maximize each opportunity that comes before us.”
